Last week, the market of both raw cashew nut and cashew kernel continue to kept their uptrend. For raw cashew nuts, there are shortages in supply in many areas. The price increased in comparison with the previous week. Raw prices for some origins are as follows: - Indonesia - outturn 53+ lbs - 1570 USD / MT, CFR Vietnam - Guinea Bissau - outturn 53lbs - 1450 USD / MT, CFR Vietnam - Cambodia - outturn 54lbs - 1990 USD / MT, CFR Vietnam - Ivory coast - outturn 47lbs - 1250 USD / MT, CFR Vietnam - Tanzania 2019 - outturn 52lbs - 1450 USD / MT, CFR Vietnam According to the Tanzania’s Government, the bidding schedule of 2020/2021 crop will be delay by 1 week. This will lead to further arrival date in Vietnam, which is expected to be in Second Half of November 2020. As a result, raw cashew nut market will remain firmer.  This week, the market seem to be as active as last one. 1. Raw cashew nuts - Good demand is there for Africa imported material. The market is showing signs of scarcity, RCN in Africa Origin seems to be out of stock, there are still some in Guinea Bissau, Senegal. - This week RCN Bissau origin for 53lbs outturn is being traded at US$ 1450 / MT CFR. - Although the Tanzanian crop will not open their tender early October, there have been some transactions of 52lbs outturn at US$ 1550 / MT CFR. - In Vietnam, price of RCN at bonded warehouse continue to remain firm. Price is rapidly increasing due to the good domestic demand. Even some orders from India are being shipped to Vietnam because of the huge production capacity and demand from Vietnam. 2. Cashew kernels: - Although the purchasing capacity from Europe is not large, in other markets such as the US, the Middle East, and Asia (such as Japan, China), the demand is active. - Especially the Chinese market, demand has incr

What are these black spot, where did they come from?

Black deep dot on the surface of cashew kernel: These black deep dot is usually caused by male mosquito in cashew fruiting period. As the outer shell is still thin, the male mosquito is able to pierce the outer shell with its proboscis to take out the nutrition. This result in a black deep dot on both outer shell and inner kernel. Insect damage these damage is usually not found on the exported kernel, as they are strictly controlled (under AFI Standards) and was limited up to the maximum of only 0.5%. In case you find them, they should look like this: As the outer shell of cashew nut is really strong and sturdy, the insect will not be able to tear through these shell. The insect damage is done from the inside. Their eggs were laid on cashew flower in the flowering period. When the nuts are formed, these eggs are already inside. The last and also easiest step is getting out of the eggs and begin to damage the kernel, which result in the damage as above pictures.

Dear valued customer, Currently both raw cashew nut and kernel prices are increasing. 1. Raw cashew nut: - There are only a few offers in the market now, it seems to be that the stocks are in Tan Long’s hand. - A small number of RCNs in Indonesia and Bissau were bought very strongly by India, so the quantity returned to Vietnam was not much. - RCN prices in Vietnam increased rapidly. Currently, transactions for IVC goods outturn 47lbs at 1150-1170 USD/MT. - It is expected that by the end of October, the goods from Tanzania will start to arrive, so the RCN quantity in Vietnam will be short from now until the end of October. 2.
